Corey and I have never gone on a vacation together. Somehow, we never went on a big whoopty honeymoon. I think we had a long weekend in Arizona together 5 years ago visiting his family, but we have never had a dedicated "couples" vacation.
We didn't know what we were missing!!! In April, we went on a couples vacation to Fort Meyers Beach, Florida. We went with my friend Tracy and her husband Mike and a couple friend of theirs. Mike's parents own a condo and they were gracious enough to allow us to stay there. We found a good deal on tickets and we had free lodging so away we went!!
Even though it rained the first couple of days we were there, we hardly noticed. We ate out, enjoyed live music at the local bars and on the beach, laid on the beach, swam in the pool, laid on the beach some more, slept in, stayed out late, ate some more, drank some more and did whatever we wanted whenever we wanted to. No fighting kids, no work, no deadlines of any kind. It was, quite simply, fabulous!!!
I know they say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I think togetherness in paradise has an even bigger effect!! I think we have discovered a new and important tradition. Annual couples vacation!!
